Bajaj Auto aims to reach a sales volume of 10,000 units a month by September 2017.
The Bajaj Dominar 400 is Bajaj’s answer to the surging demand of powerful motorcycles in India at affordable prices. After being showcased at Motobike Istanbul and launched in Nepal, the Bajaj Dominar 400 is heading to Malaysia and Thailand next, revealed Rajiv Bajaj to MoneyControl.
The Dominar, though in a higher displacement class, will likely compete in price with quarter-liter motorcycles like the Yamaha R25 and the Kawasaki Ninja 250, which are popular beginner bikes in South East Asia.
Tracing its origins to the KTM Duke 390, the Bajaj Dominar 400 has an entirely new take on the single cylinder mill sharing just the engine block. Unlike the short gearing in the Duke 390, the Dominar 400 has its gearing slightly on the taller side. The bike, despite its 182 kg kerb weight, is extremely manoeuvrable and feels at home on the highways. The seating is comfortable, and the footpegs are only slightly rear set.

The Bajaj Dominar 400 is powered by a 373.3 cc cylinder mill which is capable of producing 35 PS of power and 35 Nm of torque. It also gets several premium features like optional ABS, LED headlamp and slipper clutch. The paint used too is premium.
In India, the Bajaj Dominar 400 has been priced at INR 1.36 lakhs for the non-ABS trim and INR 1.50 lakhs for the ABS version (both prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
