Yamaha R15 v3.0 emerges as a sharper and more premium motorcycle.
Yamaha has showcased the Yamaha R15 v3.0 for the first time in Thailand, confirming the motorcycle for the market. The occasion was graced by Yamaha Racing’s MotoGP rider, Maverick Vinales.
The Yamaha R15 in its third generation avatar uses a 155.1 cc fuel injected mill which is coupled to a 6 speed gearbox. The engine is capable of producing 19.31 PS of maximum power at 10,000 rpm and 14.7 Nm of peak torque at 8,500 rpm. The compression ratio is also higher at 11.6:1 up from 10.4:1.
Yamaha has brought in VVA (Variable Valve Actuation). This will not just help in producing ideal amount of output across low, mid and high rev range but also assist in keeping fuel consumption under check. The bike gets a slip and assist clutch, upside down front forks, fatter 17 inch 100/80 M/C 52 P tyre up front and a 140/70 17M/C 66S section in the rear.

The Yamaha R15 v3.0 also gains LED headlamps which will be a boon during night rides. The fuel tank can store just 11 litre of fuel and the bike tips the scales at 137 kg. The bike measures 1,990 mm in length, 725 mm in width and 1,135 mm in height while the wheelbase shrinks to 1,325 mm.
Though not officially confirmed, the Yamaha R15 v3.0 is expected to launch in India by mid-2017.
