The Yamaha R15 v3.0 becomes the most powerful offering in the segment.
At a press conference yesterday, Yamaha Indonesia unveiled the new Yamaha R15 v3.0. The bike gets a serious makeover making it a premium offering to take the fight head-on with Suzuki and Honda.
The Yamaha R15 v3.0 gets a new 155.1 cc single cylinder, liquid cooled fuel injected VVA mill. The engine is coupled to a 6-speed gearbox and is capable of producing 19.31 PS of maximum power at 10,000 rpm and 14.7 Nm of peak torque at 8,500 rpm. The 2017 Yamaha R15 v3.0 also gets a slipper and assist clutch.
Yamaha has also kept a tight eye on the weight of the bike. The kerb weight stands at 137 kg. This, however, comes at the cost of fuel storage. The Yamaha R15 v3.0 can store just 11 litres of petrol. Features include new LED headlamps, new digital instrumentation, upside down forks up front and hazard lamp.
The Yamaha R15 v3.0 measures 1,990 mm in length, 725 mm in width and 1,135 mm in height. It gets a wheelbase of 1,325 mm. The new Yamaha R15 v3.0 will be available in three colour options, Racing Blue, Matte Black and Matte Red.
Pricing details of the Yamaha R15 v3.0 have not been revealed, and an announcement on that is expected next month. An Indian launch though is still some time away.
