TVS Akula 310 was first showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo as a concept.
Paying tribute to 33 years of racing heritage, the TVS Akula 310 concept, showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, was a ready-to-race machine built with premium parts.
Mr Aditya Putra from Corporate Communication of PT TVS Motor Company Indonesia has confirmed that the motorcycle will be introduced in the archipelago between April and July 2017. This will be TVS’ first fully faired motorcycle, and if the bike is scheduled for Indonesia by July 2017, an Indian launch will happen prior, keeping it on course for the Feb-March 2017 launch in India.
At the heart of the TVS Akula, the production version of which is rumoured as the TVS Apache RTR 300 will be a 313 cc single cylinder mill borrowed from the BMW G 310R. While outputs are to be announced, expect figures to hover around the numbers produced by the naked roadster, which stands at 34 PS of maximum power and 28 Nm of peak torque.
The TVS Akula 310 production version, frequently spied on Indian roads, shares the exhaust canister with the Beemer. It gets a raised clip-on handlebar for a relatively relaxed rider stance. Other features include a devil horn-shaped LED taillamp, dual headlamps and upside down front forks.
As reported earlier the TVS Akula 310 will be priced at under INR 2 lakhs, but with the aggressive Bajaj Dominar 400 pricing giving the motorcycling scene a shock, it remains to be seen where TVS positions its product.
