Maruti Ignis launches today

The waiting period is already running into nine weeks for select variants.

The Maruti Ignis will launch today in India at a music concert in Delhi. To be sold exclusively via NEXA, showrooms begun accepting bookings this month for a minimum deposit of INR 11,000. A reservation can also be made online using Maruti's NEXA Experience website.

The Ignis is touted to be among Maruti's best-sellers this year and will help further popularise Maruti's NEXA dealerships.

NEXA dealers IAB spoke to say that the waiting period for some Maruti Ignis variants stretches into nine weeks already.

The Maruti Ignis petrol comes with a 1.2L K12B 4-cyl petrol engine producing 61 kW (83 PS) and 113 Nm of torque. The Maruti Ignis diesel is equipped with a 1.3L 4-cyl DDiS 190 diesel engine with 55.2 kW (75 PS) and 190 Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual comes standard, while a 5-speed AMT (automated manual transmission) is optional with both engines.

The Maruti Ignis comes in 4 grades: Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. A 5-speed AMT is available for both engine options.

The Ignis comes in four variants: Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. The 5-speed AMT is available in Delta and Zeta grades of the Ignis, so buyers of the AMT model will miss out on Ignis Alpha's features. These are, LED projector headlamps and DRL, puddle lamp, Smartplay touchscreen system with Apple CarPlay, support for Suzuki remote app, auto climate control and rear view camera.
