Maruti Ignis launch
Maruti will launch what we reckon will be one of their best selling models of this year - the Maruti Ignis - on January 13. Here are 10 things to know about the Maruti Ignis.
Maruti Ignis bookings from NEXA
The Maruti Suzuki Ignis will be sold only through Maruti's premium line of NEXA dealerships, rather than the regular Maruti dealerships seen in every corner. Bookings are now accepted at these dealership as well as the official NEXA experience website.
Maruti Ignis waiting period
Dealers who we spoke to say there's already a waiting period on the Maruti Ignis. The petrol variant has a waiting period of 4-7 weeks, while the diesel version stands at 7-9 weeks. This is only expected to rise once the prices are announced and sales are underway, through the NEXA channel.
Maruti Ignis specification
The Ignis will be available with a 1.2L K12B 4-cyl petrol engine producing 61 kW (83 PS) and 113 Nm of torque, or a 1.3L 4-cyl DDiS 190 diesel engine with 55.2 kW (75 PS) and 190 Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual is standard, while a 5-speed AMT gearbox is available as an option in both variants.
Maruti Ignis mileage
The Maruti Ignis petrol can average a fuel economy of 20.89 km/L, while the Maruti Ignis diesel can register a mileage of 26.80 km/L (Both ARAI certified).
Unlike the Japanese model, the Ignis to-be-sold in India neither gets an ALLGRIP AWD option or a mild-hybrid SHVS system. The reason is certain to be attributed to costs.
Maruti Ignis variants & features
The Ignis will be available in four grades: Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. The 5-speed AMT option will only be available in the Delta and Zeta grades, so buyers of the AMT model will miss out on Ignis Alpha’s features such as LED projector headlamps and DRLs, puddle lamp, Smartplay touchscreen system with Apple CarPlay, support for Suzuki remote app, automatic climate control and rear view camera.
Dual airbags and ABS are standard in all variants of the Maruti Ignis. It also gets seat belt pre-tensioners, ISOFIX child seat anchorage, and pedestrian protection.
The Maruti Ignis measures 3,700 mm long, 1,690 mm wide, 1,595 mm high, has a wheelbase of 2,435 mm in length and ground clearance of 180 mm. Boot capacity is 260L and fuel tank capacity is 32L. The petrol variant weighs between 825 kg - 860 kg, while the diesel variant weighs between 940 kg - 960 kg.
Maruti Ignis colours
The top-end Alpha grade of the Ignis gets a contrast black roof for Uptown Red and Tinsel Blue colors, as well as Arctic white roof for Tinsel Blue exclusively. Otherwise there are six regular color options for Ignis: Pearl Arctic White, Uptown Red, Tinsel Blue, Silky Silver, Urban Blue and Glistening Grey.
Maruti Ignis price in India
The Ignis is expected to be priced between INR 4.7 - 7.5 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
