Honda Unicorn 160 becomes the second product in the segment to be BSIV compliant.
The Honda Unicorn 160 has been updated to the 2017 model year with minor cosmetic changes and BSIV compliance. The Government of India mandates that all two-wheelers will have to meet the stricter BSIV emission norms by April 1, 2017. The bike also gains Auto Headlamp On (AHO), another featured mandated by the government, after a Supreme Court-appointed committee on road safety pushed the proposal.
The powertrain is a 162.71 cc single cylinder, air cooled mill which also does duty in the Honda CB Hornet 160 R. The HET (Honda Eco Technology) engine is coupled to a 5 speed gearbox and is capable of producing 13.82 bhp of maximum power at 8,000 rpm and 13.92 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. The outgoing BSIII compliant version produced 14.5 bhp of power and 14.61 Nm of torque.
The 2017 Honda Unicorn 160 gets a new and longer visor to deflect the wind at higher speeds. Other features include a fully digital instrumentation, LED taillamp and a mono shock rear suspension.
The new visor is available standard in the Matte Marvel Blue (new colour), Imperial Red Metallic and Pearl Igneous Black. These also get new graphic decals. Other colour options include Pearl Amazing White, Matte Axis Grey.
The new BSIV Honda Unicorn 160 gets a minor price bump of INR 750. It has been launched at INR 73,552 for the standard variant and INR 76,005 for the CBS version (both prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
