The Bajaj Dominar 400 gets several premium features like slipper clutch and LED headlamp.
The Bajaj Dominar 400 uses the engine from the KTM Duke 390 with several alterations to meet its need. The development cost of the project, though not revealed, is likely to have been the highest incurred for any Bajaj motorcycle. To recover the costs, manufacturers spin off several variants of a product using the same frame and powertrain. The Bajaj Dominar 400 too might see more variants in the future.
Multiple motorcycles based on the one chassis-engine setup is a concept too familiar to Bajaj, the Pulsar 200NS, Pulsar RS200 and Pulsar AS200 being prime example of this.
At the launch, Rajiv Bajaj revealed that while they will be concentrating on the Dominar 400 for now, the future might see "possible variants" of the bike. While not confirmed officially, one of these is expected to be a faired motorcycle tracing its origins to the Bajaj Pulsar SS400 concept showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo. This will also allow Bajaj to cater to a wider audience.
Now Bajaj might decide to launch the Pulsar SS400 under the same brand name or something different but this too will be powered by the same 373 cc mill. In the Bajaj Dominar 400 the engine is capable of producing 35 PS of power and 35 Nm of torque.

As for the Dominar, Bajaj will make 15,000 units, with 5,000 bikes earmarked for exports. Deliveries in the domestic market will begin in January 2017.
