According to Autocar India, the 2017 Honda City (facelift) will get a soft touch dashboard in a bid to improve the perceived quality of Honda's best-selling product and better compete against the Hyundai Verna, 2017 Maruti Ciaz (facelift) and VW Vento.
Other features reported to be in the offing include a new Blaunpunkt-developed touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, six airbags in top-end variants, sunroof and leather upholstery. Reports suggest that the dashboard will be all-black like the model currently sold. The exterior is likely to get projector headlamps, an Accord-inspired nose with more chrome garnish, new alloy wheels with diamond-cut finish, and revised taillamps with LED lighting.
As for engine lineup, the facelifted City is likely to continue with the 1.5L i-VTEC 4-cyl engine and 1.5L i-DTEC 4-cyl turbodiesel engine. A mechanical update we expect Honda to make is the 6-speed manual gearbox for the 1.5L petrol variant, similar to the Honda BR-V's running gear.
The new Honda City (facelift) is reported to launch in mid-January 2017, about three years after the current model went on sale. Although not made official by Honda Cars India, several dealers will start taking bookings shortly, reportedly.
