Toyota Kirloskar Motor will launch the 2016 Toyota Fortuner today for the Indian market. Bookings for the new Fortuner are currently accepted for a token of INR 2 lakhs.
Though not confirmed, that the Fortuner will retail in six variants: 4×2 Petrol MT, 4×2 Petrol AT, 4×2 Diesel MT, 4×2 Diesel AT, 4×4 Diesel MT, 4×4 Diesel AT, priced between INR 27 Lakhs - INR 32 Lakhs (ex-showroom). The competitor set is familiar, with the Ford Endeavour and Hyundai Santa Fe, but the Toyota enjoys the distinction of being the only SUV in its class to offer a petrol option.
Diesel variants will be powered by the 2.8L GD four-cylinder turbodiesel engine, while the petrol variant will get the 2.7L dual VVT-i four-cylinder engine. Both are downloaded from the Toyota Innova Crysta and pair with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. A 4WD drivetrain is exclusive to the diesel Fortuner.
Features on the top-end Fortuner include LED projector headlamps, LED daytime running lamps, A-TRC Traction Control (TRC) system, Down Hill Assist Control (DAC) system, electrically assisted tailgate, electrically powered driver’s seat, cruise control, T-Connect infotainment system with satellite navigation and reverse camera.
