Petrol models to make both SUVs considerably more accessible.
The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and Jeep Grand Cherokee are currently available only with diesel engines in India. According to a report from Autocar India, the SUVs will be launched with petrol engines in India next month.
Import listings have shown that both Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and Jeep Grand Cherokee petrol are already in India. The 2017 Jeep Wrangler petrol will be powered by the 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine that produces 285 hp and 260 lb.-ft. (352.51 Nm) of torque. The naturally aspirated engine will be paired to a 5-speed automatic transmission.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee petrol, as per the report, will sport a 395 hp version of the 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine. It will have an 8-speed automatic transmission. The equipment and features of the Wrangler petrol and Grand Cherokee petrol models will be similar to the diesel models.

Autocar claims that the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited petrol will likely be priced INR 18-20 lakh lower than the Jeep Wrangler diesel which costs INR 71.59 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi). The Jeep Grand Cherokee petrol is expected to be around INR 15 lakh cheaper than the Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel which starts at INR 93.64 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi).
