While all major global automakers enjoy their presence in the sub-compact crossover segment in Europe, North America and Oceania, Hyundai's still testing its new B-SUV to make it fit for the market. According to a report from CarAdvice, the new Hyundai B-SUV will launch in H2 2017.
The Australian publication got the launch timeline confirmation from Guido Schenken, Public Relations Manager, Hyundai Australia. Mr. Schenken spoke with reference to Australia, but it is not far-fetched to assume that the vehicle's European launch would precede it.
"Launching in 2017 – a big car, an important car for us – is our small SUV, and that’ll be in the second half of the year," Mr. Schenken said. "This new car will be a much smaller brother of the current Tucson," he added.
Based on the second generation Hyundai i20, the new Hyundai B-SUV will gun for the Nissan Juke, Toyota C-HR, Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-3, and Citroen C3 Picasso. Spy images this year from Europe show the car featuring a low stance and split headlamp design.

The Hyundai B-SUV is expected to be made available with 1.0- to 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines, along with 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmissions. Four-wheel drive option should be offered on high-end variants.
