Not confirmed for production by Mahindra.
Motorscribes has created a rendering of a 4-door Mahindra Thar to give an idea of what it would look like with an extended wheelbase and 2 rear doors. It is pitched as a more extreme, off-road centric cousin of the Mahindra Bolero, the successor of the popular Mahindra Armada. Some may look at it as the Jeep Wrangler from India.
Dubbed as the 'Mahindra Thar XL' in the rendering, the 4-door UV has a black canvas top similar to the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and a longer wheelbase. Otherwise it looks identical to the current Mahindra Thar. If Mahindra were planning to put such a variant into production, it is likely to be introduced in the next generation model.

Speaking of which, the next gen Thar is rumored to arrive in showrooms from 2018. It will ride on a new body-on-frame platform with better structural rigidity and meet future crash test norms. As for engine options, it is likely to come with a 1.5-liter unit from the mHawk family of diesel engines, although it’s unclear if it’s a retuned version of the unit in the TUV300 or another engine.
