Will be launched in India in Q2 2017.
The 2017 Jeep Compass that had its global debut in Brazil in September has now landed in India. A spy shot published by Autocar India proves that FCA India has commenced testing of the 2017 Jeep Compass.
The second generation Jeep Compass is currently under production in Goiana, Pernambuco in Brazil and is planned for over 100 countries globally, India being one of them. It has already launched in Brazil, where the range starts at R$99,990 (INR 20,88,741.41).
The second generation Jeep Compass is based on a modified version of the Jeep Renegade and Fiat 500X‘s Small-Wide 4×4 platform. It is offered with two engine options in Brazil: 2.0 Tigershark (flex) and 2.0 Multijet II (diesel).
The 2.0-litre Tigershark flex-fuel engine produces 166 cv (166 hp) and 20.5 kgf-m (201.04 Nm) of torque running on ethanol and 159 cv (159 hp) and 19.9 kgf-m (195.15 Nm) of torque running on petrol. The 2.0-litre diesel engine develops 170 cv (170 hp) and 35.7 kgf-m (350.10 Nm) of torque. Transmission choices include 6-speed automatic and 9-speed automatic. A four-wheel drive system is optionally available.
The new generation Jeep Compass will go on sale in India in Q2 2017. It will be the first locally-made Jeep model, with production at the Tata-FCA JV’s Ranjangaon plant in Maharashtra. The India-made 2017 Jeep Compass will likely be exported to right-hand drive markets like Australia, New Zealand, UK, etc.
