Will launch in 100 markets starting next year.
Seen here are live images of the 2017 Jeep Compass from its premiere in the South American market, which is expected to be the launch market for the SUV as well.
The 2017 Jeep Compass measures 4.41 meter in length, 1.81 meter in width, 1.64 meter in height and 2.63 meter in wheelbase; the top-end Trailhawk variant tips the scale at 1,751 kg. Jeep has reportedly shared parts and components with the Jeep Renegade, though in the 2017 Compass, the structure is 70 percent stiffer thanks to the use of HSS (high-strength steel).
Though Jeep has announced 17 different engine and gearbox combinations for the 2017 Compass, for the South American market, the Hyundai Tucson-rivaling SUV will come with a 2.0-liter Tigershark Flex-fuel petrol engine and a 2.0-liter Multijet II diesel engine. The petrol develops 166 hp and 205 Nm of torque whereas the diesel produces 170 hp and 357 Nm of torque.
Available in 4x2 and 4x4 configurations, the 2017 Compass gets a 6-speed automatic transmission when equipped with the former and a 9-speed automatic transmission with the latter (only with the diesel engine).
