Expected to premiere on November 10.
Iwanbanaran has posted revealing images of the Suzuki GSX 250R, thus confirming the name of the new quarter liter motorcycle from Suzuki. Further, the publication has posted images revealing the motorcycle in all angles.
Several reports state that the motorcycle will have its premiere at the EICMA 2016 in Milan, Italy, on November 10, though based on these images, a revealing could possibly take place in Indonesia in the coming days.
On the design front, the Suzuki GSX 250R is inspired by larger, liter-class Suzuki models and features an aggressive and butch-styled fairing, a large, haunched fuel tank, split seats, plenty of aluminium/alloy parts and an exposed chain. Suzuki has clearly ditched the ‘Gixxer’ branding favouring the ‘GSX’ name, indicating that the manufacturer is keen on positioning this motorcycle as a worthy rival to the Yamaha R25 and Kawasaki Ninja 250.
On the powertrain front, expect the Suzuki GSX 250R to borrow its engine from theSuzuki Inazuma, which was discontinued in India in March 2015 owing to poor sales. On the Inazuma, Suzuki employed a 248 cc liquid-cooled twin-cylinder engine capable of 18 kW (24 hp) at 8,500 rpm and 22 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm, and paired to a 6-speed gearbox.
A market launch in Europe and other South East Asian markets could take place this financial year, though Suzuki Motorcycle India is yet to confirm the product for the local market. In an interview from earlier this year, Mr. Suresh Babu Janarthan, Project Leader for CBU Products at Suzuki Motorcycle India, reportedly said that the company will launch such a product in India “when the time is right”.
