Both models have been previewed publicly with concept cars.
Volkswagen's betting big on its crossover/SUV market with a slew of new models planned to launch this decade. According to a report from CarAdvice, the company will globally launch the VW T-Roc concept's production version in 2018, which will probably be followed by the VW T-Cross Breeze concept's production version.
The development was confirmed to the Australian publication by Michael Bartsch, Managing Director, Volkswagen Group Australia, who also suggested that there's a big potential for a Honda HR-V rival. Adopting a top-down approach, this year, Volkswagen will be launching the 7-seat version of the VW Tiguan and the VW Teramont. The latter will be available in 5- and 7-seat versions.
The VW T-Roc will be smaller than the VW Tiguan and be positioned in the VW Golf class whereas the VW T-Cross will be positioned in the VW Polo class. It remains to be seen if like the concepts they have a convertible or a three-door variant. Both models will ride on the MQB platform.
