Launch delayed to early-2017.
The Tata Kite 5 compact sedan was spied testing recently by Mr. Rahul, in what appears to be a base variant with steel wheels and lack of a wheel cap. The Kite 5, a compact sedan based on the Tata Tiago, was anticipated to launch this festive season, however, according to a new report, it will have its market introduction only in early-2017.
Tata Motors is reportedly conducting various assessments to minimise its cost of parts, yet improve on their quality. The company is especially keen on getting the price right with the Kite 5, as it will give plenty of hatchbacks a run for their money owing to its segmentation. When launched, it will be the most affordable sedan one can buy in India.
Naturally, it shares its platform, parts and engines with the Tata Tiago. On the powertrain front, Tata will equip the Kite 5 with a 1.2-liter Revotron three-cylinder all-aluminium petrol engine capable of 85 PS and 114 Nm of torque. A 1.05-liter Revotorq three-cylinder diesel engine with outputs of 70 PS and 140 Nm will also be available. While both engines will be paired to a 5-speed manual transmission, an automated manual transmission (AMT) is certainly on the cards.

Inside, the Kite 5 is expected to offer all the features available on the Tiago, plus a touchscreen entertainment system, automatic climate control and a rear center armrest.
