The Toyota C-HR had its world premiere at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show in March and will go on sale internationally by the end of the year. In a press release, the Toytota C-HR has been confirmed to have its Brazilian debut at the 2016 Sao Paulo Auto Show in November.

The Toyota C-HR is the second vehicle based on the TNGA platform.

The Toyota C-HR is Toyota's second model to be underpinned by the Toyota New Global Architecture after the fourth generation Toyota Prius that was launched last year. It's going to be available in three engine models.

The first engine is a 1.2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol unit that develops 72 kW (98 PS) and 142 Nm of torque. It will be available with a 6-speed manual transmission and a continuously variable transmission, along with an option for all-wheel drive. Then there's a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine good for 110 kW (150 PS) and 193 Nm of torque, which will be mated to a continuously variable transmission. Lastly, there's a petrol-electric hybrid powertrain consisting of a 72 kW (98 PS) 2.0-litre combustion engine and a 53 kW (72 PS) electric motor. An electronically-controlled continuously variable transmission sends drive to the front wheels.

The above specifications are for Europe, and the Brazilian specifications aren't available yet. However, a possibility is that the 2.0-litre petrol engine could be modified to be made ethanol-compatible. The Toyota C-HR will compete with the Honda HR-V and the Nissan Juke, as well as the upcoming Hyundai Creta and Renault Captur (Renault Kaptur) in South America.
