Tata Motors to continue Tata Bolt production.

Making passenger vehicles exclusively for commercial sales, a step usually taken by an automaker when the model nears the end of its lifecycle, is what Tata Motors will be going for its Tata Bolt hatchback that was launched in January 2015.

The Tata Bolt is available in India in four trim levels and with two engine options.

According to a report from CarDekho, Tata Motors is determined to continue producing the Vista-based hatchback despite its abysmal sales, but will curb its availability to fleet operators. The Tata Bolt was previously rumoured to be pulled off production due to very low demand. The company has reportedly sold only 17,000 units of the car since the launch.

The Tata Bolt is offered in four grades in India: XE, XM, XMS and XT, and in two engine options: 90 PS 1.2-litre Revotron petrol and 75 PS 1.25-litre Quadrajet diesel. A 5-speed manual transmission is standard, and there's no option of an AMT.

Instead of the Tata Bolt Sport, Tata Motors now plans to launch Tata Tiago Sport, it is reported.

Another reported change in the future product plan due to the Tata Bolt's failure is the cancellation of the Tata Bolt Sport that was showcased at Auto Expo 2016. Instead, the Tata Tiago will gain a Sport variant now.

The Tata Tiago is the company's best selling model with bookings having crossed 40,000 since its market launch in April.
