Maruti sold 17,382 utility vehicles in July 2016.
For July 2016, Maruti has emerged the market leader in the utility vehicles segment, thanks to the demand for their first sub-4m SUV - the Maruti Vitara Brezza.
Maruti managed to sell 17,382 utility vehicles in July, while Mahindra sold 15,962 vehicles in July 2016, thus giving up the crown as the leading UV manufacturer to Maruti; a brand mostly known for making hatchbacks. However, Mahindra's total sales of utility vehicles between April and July 2016 is 71,871 units, which is still more than Maruti Suzuki's UV sales of 56,730 units in the same period.
Maruti's UV lineup comprises of the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Maruti Ertiga, Maruti S-Cross, Gypsy and Grand Vitara. The strong sales of the Vitara Brezza has helped Maruti register a 151.3 percent growth in sales of the UV lineup over the figures of July 2015. Currently, there is a 7-9 month waiting period for the Vitara Brezza (depending on variant).
