Will carryover the engine lineup from its MPV sibling - the Toyota Innova Crysta.
Overdrive reports that the 2016 Toyota Fortuner will launch in India in late 2016 or early 2017. Toyota Kirloskar Motor could fast-track its launch, now that the diesel ban in Delhi NCR has been lifted.
Compared to the outgoing model launched in 2009, the 2,750 mm wheelbase is identical, while the new Fortuner is 90 mm longer and 15 mm wider. Already on sale in ASEAN, Middle Eastern and Australian markets, the new Fortuner features a sharp and contemporary design that looks bolder.
The interior borrows a few cues and trim materials from its MPV sibling – the Innova Crysta, yet features a unique design that is a departure from the outgoing model. Some of the features expected in the new Fortuner include LED projector headlights with daytime running lights, A-TRC Traction Control (TRC) system, Down Hill Assist Control (DAC) system, electric tailgate, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, cruise control, 7-inch T-Connect infotainment system with satellite navigation, reversing camera and push button start/stop button.

The engine lineup will be borrowed from the Innova Crysta, although it's unclear if the 2.7L VVT-i petrol engine will also be brought in. The diesel variant will offer two engine options: 2.4L and 2.8L four-cylinder turbodiesel GD units. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and automatic, while a 4WD system is likely to be equipped in the top-end 2.8 variant.
