Will be launched in India in 2017.
The Skoda Kodiaq has been spied testing by YouTube user petr husar ahead of its expected debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show in September. Skoda recently revealed the Kodiaq prototypes covered with camouflage, hinting an online reveal could happen before its public debut in Paris. The Skoda Kodiaq has been confirmed to go on sale in first market(s) at the beginning of 2017.
The Skoda Kodiaq is the company’s first production mid-size crossover. It will probably become the flagship product once launched, priced higher than the Skoda Superb. It was previewed by the Skoda VisionS concept, a plug-in hybrid crossover concept that will also become a cornerstone for design of the company’s future crossovers/SUVs.
The Skoda Kodiaq is based on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform and will be available with three TSI petrol and two TDI diesel engines initially. The most powerful TSI petrol engine will be a 132 kW (180 PS/176.94 hp) 2.0-litre unit. Transmission choices will include 6-speed manual and DSG dual-clutch automatic, and drivetrain layout choices will be front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.
As per a report from German media, the output of the three petrol engines will range from 125 to 180 PS (123.24 to 177.47 hp), while the the two diesel engines will develop 150 PS and 190 PS (147.89 and 187.33 hp).
The Skoda Kodiaq will be available in 5-seat and 7-seat versions. The 5-seat version won’t be a replacement for the Yeti; a redesigned, second generation Skoda Yeti is already in the works and is expected to be launched next year.
