Not expected to be launched in India.
The current, third generation Suzuki Jimny was launched nearly two decades back, in 1998. According to a report from Auto Express, the current model will continue being sold until at least 2018.
Details on the next-gen Suzuki Jimny have been scarce so far. However, the new report now reveals some details to give a rough idea of the fully redesigned model. The next generation Suzuki Jimny will continue being built on a ladder-frame chassis in its fourth generation.
The next-gen Suzuki Jimny will be available with the 1.2-litre DUALJET and the 1.0-litre BOOSTERJET petrol engines. Mild and full hybrid powertrains could also be offered in the Jimny this time. The report doesn't mention the transmission choices, but 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic seem to be the obvious choices. Power will be distributed between the wheels via a permanent four-wheel drive system.

The Suzuki Jimny is currently made in left-hand drive and right-hand drive, and this should remain unchanged when it moves to its fourth generation. It will rival with the Lada 4x4, which is expected to enter its next generation and arrive in a new design around the same time as the all-new Suzuki Jimny, in 2018.
