Maruti Ignis test mule spied up-close
Aravind Jayachandran, I'm a huge petrolhead, an automobile engineer, a massive fan of Ferrari, and loves collecting die-cast models for inspiration.
To launch during the festive season.
A Maruti Ignis test mule has been spied up close by Rushlane reader, Abhinav Jain, ahead of its launch in the festive season.
The prototypes are well cladded with temporary panels, although Maruti has already a offered a first look of the compact crossover at the Auto Expo 2016. It measures 3,700 mm long, 1,660 mm in wide, 1,595 mm in high, has a 2,435 mm long wheelbase and a 180 mm high ground clearance.
One of the spyshots gives a peak of the interior, which will be largely identical to that of the Auto Expo show car. It will feature a distinctive interior design, comprising of a utilitarian floating dual tone dashboard that houses a freestanding SmartPlay display, unique HVAC controls, and a new steering wheel not sourced from the Maruti Swift.
Maruti has not confirmed the engine lineup of the Ignis. If rumors are to be believed, the Ignis will offer an option between a 1.2-liter K12B petrol engine with VVT or a 1.3-liter DDiS engine equipped with Suzuki’s SHVS mild hybrid tech. A 5-speed manual will be standard in both models, while a CVT could be exclusive for the petrol variant.
