These are the first spyshots of Mahindra's all-new MPV, which was spied testing in Chennai sporting what seems like a production-ready body and parts. Mahindra has its research valley established on the outskirts of Chennai, and this test mule is indeed here for further validation and testing processes.
Sources tell Indian Autos Blog that the MPV seen here is the first passenger vehicle to come out of Mahindra's North American Technical Centre (MNATC) in Troy, Michigan. In June 2014, it was reported that this center has started developing a new utility vehicle which will launch in India as well as global markets. It is expected to first launch in India next year.
The prototype wears the characteristic Mahindra toothed grille, and has proportions of a Renault Lodgy. The large windscreen and windows signify that like other Mahindra products, this too will offer cabin space as a USP. While details are scarce, this MPV is likely to be based off a monocoque platform. Currently, Mahindra's people-mover, the Xylo, is based on a ladder-frame chassis; in fact, only the Mahindra XUV500 and Mahindra KUV100 use a monocoque platform (the Mahindra Verito and Verito Vibe which are essentially the Renault Logan also use a monocoque platform).

One can expect Mahindra's 2.2-liter mHawk diesel engine (which is also available in a downsized 1.99-liter state for those cities which ban >2,000cc diesel vehicles) to do duty on the new MPV. Expect prices to be in-between the recently-launched Toyota Innova Crysta and Renault Lodgy.
