Will be assembled in Isuzu's new plant in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh.
Overdrive reports that Isuzu will replace the aged MU-7 with the all new Isuzu MU-X later this year. The MU-X is a body-on-frame SUV that rivals the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour.
Sharing its underpinnings with the Chevrolet Trailblazer, the Isuzu MU-X features a more contemporary styling that borrows cues from the new D-Max. It sports a chrome grille, flared wheel arches, 16-inch alloy wheels and a wraparound rear windshield similar to the Trailblazer.
The similarities with the Trailblazer are also seen inside. The MU-X comes with a silver accented steering wheel, 6-way electrically adjustable driver seat, 6-speaker touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth and navigation, roof-mounted 10-inch DVD monitor, climate control, split and fold second and third row seats, 12 cup holders and 19 cubby holes.

It's unclear if the MU-X will launch with the smaller RZ4E-TC 1.9-litre turbo-diesel engine that produces 150 PS at 3,600 rpm and 350 Nm at 1,800-2,600 rpm, or the 4JJ1-TCX 3.0-litre turbo-diesel motor that develops 177 PS at 3,600 rpm and 380 Nm at 1,800-2,800 rpm. With the 1.9-liter engine, Isuzu can sell the MU-X in Delhi-NCR where there's a ban on diesel engines displacing more than 2,000cc.
