Will rival the KTM Duke 200 when launched.
The country's largest motorcycle manufacturer, Hero Motocorp, is all set to enter the naked sports bike segment with an offering within the next 18 months, Overdrive reports. The product is likely to be based on the Hero Xtreme 200S concept showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo.
Although the company presented what looked like a production-version of the bike at the 2016 Auto Expo, fitted with a 200 cc single cylinder air-cooled engine developing 18.6 PS at 8,500 rpm and 17.2 Nm at 6,000 rpm, the bike has taken its time in coming.
Now we know for certain that it will be launched within the next 18 months and definitely before the 2018 Auto Expo. Built on a diamond frame chassis, a conventional fork, and monoshock rear suspension, the model at the 2016 Auto Expo featured a five-speed gearbox. The bike also featured disc brakes at both ends and multi-spoke alloy wheels.
