Launch expected in the festive season.
The Tata Kite 5 sub-4m sedan was spotted testing on a highway, as seen in spyshots uploaded by Team-BHP member 'hakunabatata'. It is expected to launch in this festive season.
The Kite 5 (codename) was unveiled as a pre-production concept at the Auto Expo 2016. Slotting under the Tata Zest, the Kite 5 is based on the newly launched Tata Tiago. The front end is sourced from the hatchback, while the stubby boot and wraparound taillamps are unique to the Kite 5. It measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,647 mm in width, 1,535 mm in height and 2,450 mm in wheelbase.
The interior is also largely identical to that of the Tiago, complete with an 8-speaker Harman audio system and turn-by-turn navigation. The Kite 5 will additionally come with a touchscreen infotainment system in top-end grades and offer a class-leading boot capacity of 420 liters.
Engine lineup comprises of the Tiago's all new 1.2L three cylinder Revotron engine with 83 bhp/114 Nm of torque and 1.05L Revotorq diesel engine producing 69 bhp/140Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual is the only confirmed gearbox for the Kite 5, while an AMT variant is also reportedly in the works.
