Currently exclusive to the Brazilian market.
ET Auto reports that Nissan is planning to launch at least three utility vehicles in the next three years, of which one of them is the Nissan Kicks (codename: Nissan PB1D). The other two are the Datsun Go Cross and Nissan X-Trail.
The Kicks will be Nissan’s answer to the Hyundai Creta and Honda BR-V. The Kicks is currently exclusive to the Brazilian market, where it will be launched for sale later this year. For Brazil, it is based on the older V platform, while the report suggests that the India-spec Nissan Kicks will be based on the yet-to-launch CMF-B platform.
The Brazilian spec Nissan Kicks measures 4,295 mm in length, 1,760 mm in width and 1,590 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,610 mm. It is powered by a 1.6-litre flex-fuel engine paired to only a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
Nissan is looking to capitalize on the high demand for utility vehicles in the Indian market. They have already launched the entry level Datsun redi-Go last Tuesday, and will start selling the new Nissan X-Trail from later this year. As for the sub-4m SUV segment, Nissan is looking to introduce the production-spec Datsun Go Cross, although the report states that it will only arrive in 2019.
