Honda is working on a new budget compact crossover positioned below the Honda HR-V for emerging markets. Internally known under the codename 'Honda 2FM', the new compact crossover is said to be named 'Honda WR-V' and it's already being tested on public roads, as seen in a spyshot clicked in Brazil earlier this year. A speculative rendering from Car And Driver Brazil shows how the India-bound Honda WR-V may look like.
The Honda WR-V, as depicted in the rendering, is expected to look like a jacked-up, rugged-styled Honda Jazz. A lot of similarities are expected on the outside, inside as well as under the shell. Citing a source familiar with the vehicle's development, a Brazilian publication said that the wheelbase will measure 2.60 metres.

The Honda WR-V will be powered by a 1.5-litre engine in Brazil. It could be the Honda Jazz's i-VTEC FlexOne flex-fuel unit that produces 115 hp (petrol)/116 hp (ethanol) and 149 Nm (petrol)/150 Nm (ethanol) of torque. It remains to be seen if the Indian buyers of the WR-V will have to settle with the 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine from the Jazz though. The familiar 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine will also be offered for the Indian market.
The Honda WR-V will debut at the 2016 Sao Paulo Auto Show in November and be launched in India in 2017, according to past reports.
