Based on the spy shots, BIMMERPOST forum member Paul-Bracq-BMW has created exterior renderings of the 2017 BMW 5 Series M Sport.

The styling of the M Sport variant seen in these images is reminiscent of the 2017 BMW 7 Series M Sport (BMW M760Li xDrive). The sixth-gen BMW 5 Series will be based on the new CLAR (Cluster Architecture) rear-wheel drive platform that was first used for the all-new 7 Series. BMW will reportedly use lightweight materials like carbon-fibre, magnesium, aluminium and high-tensile steel to such an extent that the car’s weight will drop by up to 100 kg.
