Could debut at the Paris Motor Show this year.
The next generation 2017 Maruti Swift was spied testing in Europe yet again, ahead of an unveiling which could possibly take place at this year's Paris Motor Show in October. The camouflaged prototype hides a production-ready body shell which was leaked in presentation images.
Designers have chosen an evolutionary approach for the next generation Swift, which is expected to be based on the Baleno's lightweight platform. The move to the aluminium-mix platform is expected to reduce weight by some 50-70 kg at least while offering a stiffer chassis with better crash protection levels.
The inside of the hatchback will see a fresh design from the Suzuki stable with an all-new three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, a sporty instrument cluster, a touchscreen SmartPlay entertainment system, circular AC vents and integrated digital displays for the automatic climate control.
Under the hood, the 2017 Maruti Swift for India is expected to be offered with the 1.2-liter K-Series petrol engine or the 1.0-liter BoosterJet turbocharged petrol engine paired to manual and automatic transmissions. Maruti could continue with the Fiat-sourced 1.3-liter DDiS diesel engine, or employ its own diesel engine if its ready by then.
