2017 Honda CR-V imagined - Rendering
Sagar Parikh, I'm the international news editor at IndianAutosBlog.com. I love everything that has a steering wheel!
Up to 65% of the car could be localized for India.
The fourth generation Honda CR-V was introduced in 2011 and received a facelift 2014. The fifth generation CR-V, said to arrive later this year or in early 2017, is currently under development in the USA, and was spied testing for the first time, in its production body, just last month.
Based on spy shots, Motor1 reader Huang has created a rendering to show his depiction of the next-gen 2017 Honda CR-V.
The 2017 Honda CR-V's front-end gets the new family look seen on the 2016 Honda Civic. The profile, save for the dimensional changes, doesn't appear to have changed much. The rear-end features new L-shaped tail lamps reminiscent of the Acura SUV-X concept. The 2017 Honda CR-V is said to have a three-row version, just like the Hyundai Grand Santa Fe variant. To accommodate the third row seat, the CR-V's wheelbase will be stretched by 80 mm.
The fifth-gen Honda CR-V will be based on the tenth-gen Honda Civic's platform and is expected to be offered with 1.5- and 2.0-litre VTEC TURBO engines, and a plug-in hybrid variant. The 1.6-litre i-DTEC may continue being offered in Europe with necessary revisions.
A diesel engine option could be on offer in India too, where the all-new CR-V is said to have up to 65% localisation and is expected to be launched within a year of its global debut.
