European launch planned for early 2017.

The Honda Civic Hatchback Prototype at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show was a preview of the 5-door version of the tenth generation Honda Civic. Now, The Temple of VTEC says that the 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback will be allocated to the U.S. dealerships in July 2016. This means that the deliveries of the car may not commence until as late as September 2016.

The 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback will mark the return of the 5-door Civic in USA after 11 years. In early 2017, the car will go on sale in Europe.

The all-new Civic Hatchback will be 130 mm longer, 30 mm wider and 20 mm lower than the current generation Honda Civic Hatchback. As this was stated in the European press release, it can be assumed that Honda was comparing the next-gen Euro-spec Civic Hatchback with the current-gen Euro-spec Civic Hatchback which measures 4,285 mm in length 1,770 mm in width (without door mirrors) and 1,470 mm (with antenna) in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,605 mm.

The 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback will be offered with 1.0-liter VTEC turbocharged three-cylinder gasoline, 1.5-liter VTEC turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline and 1.6-liter i-DTEC turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine options. Honda will likely offer these engines with 6-speed manual transmission and continuously variable transmission.

Stateside, the powertrain lineup will look different with the diesel unit not being included. The all-new Civic Hatchback, although officially unconfirmed, is not an India-bound model. The sedan version though, is reportedly being considered for India to fill the gap between the Honda City and the upcoming Honda Accord.
