Targeting annual sales of 2 million units by 2020.
As of last fiscal year (2014-2015), Maruti Suzuki had 1,820 dealerships spread across 1,470 cities. During the current fiscal year (2015-2016), the company aims to add 200 outlets to take the total number beyond 2,000. The long-run plan is to have 4,000 sales outlets nationwide by 2020, as per a report from Economic Times.
“We are looking at doubling the sale outlets to 4,000 by 2020. This is in line with the ambition to sell two million units by 2020”, Maruti Suzuki India Executive Director Marketing and sales RS Kalsi told PTI. Nexa premium outlet expansion is also planned. The current 127 number of Nexa showrooms is planned to be increased to 250 in the current fiscal, Mr. Kalsi added.
Along with increasing its reach among customers nationwide, the company also plans to introduce 15 new models by the end of the decade to start selling two million units annually from then. The Maruti Ignis and Maruti Baleno RS will be launched around the festive season this year. The Maruti Ignis will compete with the Mahindra KUV100, while the Maruti Baleno RS will rival the VW Polo GT.
