To have around 95 percent local content.
Motor Octane reports that the Datsun Redi-Go will be priced less than the Renault Kwid, and that the model will be unveiled in May 2016. This will make the Redi-Go the most affordable car in the product line of the Renault-Nissan Alliance (RNA).
The Redi-Go and the Kwid will have a lot of common parts. Both are based on the same platform, the Common Module Family - Affordable (CMF-A) and they are also expected to share the same powertrain, the 800 cc B4A engine with a five-speed manual transmission. The motor produces 54 PS and 74 Nm on the Kwid.
The Kwid has a localisation level of 98 percent and hence the Redi-Go is expected to have the same level of local content. With Datsun being the entry-level brand in RNA, the Datsun Redi-Go could miss out on some features that are offered on the Kwid, like the touchscreen-equipped infotainment system, which would be one of the ways the model is priced lower.
