Rohtak facility to develop the models starting next year.
Suzuki will introduce 20 new cars globally by the end of the decade, including three models developed from scratch in India, says a report from Live Mint. Kenichi Ayukawa, Maruti Suzuki's Managing Director and CEO, told the business paper that all the new models to be introduced by the end of the decade will be developed by both Suzuki Motor and Maruti Suzuki.
Suzuki Motor has asked its Indian subsidiary develop to three new models from scratch at its R&D centre in Rohtak, and these cars can be expected to be targeted mainly at emerging markets. The three new models will be developed at the INR 2,500 crore R&D centre in Rohtak, which will be operational in early 2017.
Out of the 20 new models to be introduced by 2020, 11 will fall in the small car segment and 9 will be sedans and crossovers/SUVs. 15 of the 20 new models are expected to be launched in India.
Maruti Suzuki's next two launches in India will be the recently unveiled Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza sub-compact crossover and the production version of the Suzuki Ignis hatchback concept. The Vitara Brezza will reportedly be launched towards the end of March 2016, while the Ignis concept's production version has been confirmed to go on sale in the festive season this year at NEXA outlets.

One can expect the next generation Maruti Swift on the Baleno platform, next gen Maruti Swift Dzire, next gen 3-row Maruti Wagon R, premium MPV and the larger Vitara SUV to be part of this cadence.
