Will be launched in H2 2016.

Over eight years after its introduction in April 2008, the Audi Q5 will enter its second generation this year with a full redesign. The all-new Audi Q5's evolutionary exterior will be inspired by that of the second generation Audi Q7 that was introduced just over a year back in December 2014. The next-gen model is in its final stages of development and being tested in production body around the world. In the latest, a test mule has been spotted in Europe by YouTube user HotCarSpotter88.

The next-gen Audi Q5 will be around 100 kg lighter than the current generation Audi Q5.

The second generation 2016 Audi Q5 will be based on the Volkswagen Group's second generation MLB (MLB-Evo) platform that forms basis for the Audi Q7 as well. With the new platform and other weight saving measures, the new generation model will be around 100 kg lighter than the outgoing model.

The 2016 Audi Q5 will likely be offered with four- and six-cylinder TFSI petrol and TDI diesel engines with displacements ranging from 1.4-litre to 3.0-litre and outputs ranging from 110 kW (150 PS/148 hp) to 200 kW (272 PS). The petrol-powered S variant for North America and China should feature the 2016 Audi S4's 3.0-litre TFSI turbocharged V6 engine that produces 260 kW (354 PS) and 500 Nm of torque. 6-speed manual, 7-speed S tronic and 8-speed tiptronic and front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive are expected to be the transmission and drivetrain layout choices respectively.
