Market launch slated for this calendar year.
MotorOctane has close-up images of the Tata Nexon-based sub-4 meter SUV, which is expected to debut in production guise at the Auto Expo 2016. India's largest automobile exhibition will open its doors for the media on February 3, 2016.
The Nexon, reported to be internally named the Tata Osprey, was shown as a concept at the Auto Expo 2014, with the promise of launching it in 24 months. According to Mr. Pratap Bose, Head of design of Tata Motors, the company is "more or less" on schedule with the Ford EcoSport-rival.
Reportedly based on the Tata Vista's platform, the Nexon will follow Tata's IMPACT design language. Indian Autos Blog was told by Mr. Bose that the production Nexon will remain true to the concept model showcased at the Auto Expo 2014. Even its overall length of 3,995 mm will be identical to the Nexon concept.

Under the hood, the Nexon is expected to be powered by a four-cylinder version of the all-new all-aluminium Revotron petrol engine, which will first make its debut on the Tata Zica. The diesel engine in question could be a Tata-developed Revotorq unit, or the Fiat-sourced 1.3-liter MultiJet engine.
