Expected to launch in two variants.
Royal Enfield has sent out invitations asking journalists to block their dates on February 2, 2016 for a press conference in New Delhi. The pre-Auto Expo press conference will be addressed by Siddhartha Lal, MD & CEO Eicher Motors Limited, the invite states, however sources say the company's Himalayan adventure tourer will be showcased at the event.
The all-new Royal Enfield Himalayan was spotted undisguised recently. Reports say that the motorcycle will be introduced in two variants: Urban and off-road. The Urban variant is likely to get alloy wheels whereas the off-road version will be equipped with spoked wheels, a windshield and mounts for luggage and jerry cans.
Both variants are expected to be powered by the company's new engine family. The engine in question, a 431 cc single-cylinder, oil-cooled unit with SOHC (Single Overhead Camshaft) is expected to output 30 bhp and 32 Nm of torque. A 5-speed gearbox will be in-charge of transmission duties, while braking will be handled by discs at both ends.

When launched, the Himalayan is expected to cost a shade under INR 2 lakhs, ex-Showroom. Though the adventure tourer won't have any direct competition, the Mahindra Mojo could be a close rival on price.
