Here are the top 5 things we know about the Maruti Vitara Brezza, which will make its world premiere at the Auto Expo 2016 next week:
1. Fully-developed in India:
The Maruti Vitara Brezza is the first Maruti product to have been fully-designed, developed and engineered and validated in India. Work on the Vitara Brezza (project: Maruti YBA) started in mid-2011, and was given as a challenge by parent company Suzuki Motor Corporation.
2. Engine options:
Sources have confirmed to Indian Autos Blog that the Vitara Brezza will borrow its engines from the Maruti Swift and Maruti Swift Dzire models. The engines in question include a 1.2-liter K-Series petrol and a 1.3-liter DDiS diesel unit, paired to a 5-speed manual transmission.
3. Features and interior:
Revealing spyshots have shown the interior of the Maruti Vitara Brezza with a Swift-borrowed three-spoke steering multi-function wheel, a touchscreen SmartPlay entertainment system, automatic climate control, all-black upholstery and dashboard and a front-center armrest. Additionally, the Vitara Brezza is expected with dual airbags, ABS and EBD as standard.
4. Market launch in March 2016:
According to reports, the market launch of the Maruti Vitara Brezza will take place only in March 2016, a month after its unveiling at the Auto Expo 2016. However, expect bookings for the compact SUV to commence days after its Auto Expo premiere.
5. Will not be sold through NEXA outlets:
Sales of the Maruti Vitara Brezza will take place through Maruti's regular chain of dealerships, and not the premium NEXA outlets which sell the Maruti Baleno and Maruti S-Cross. Instead, the NEXA outlets are reportedly earmarked for the Maruti Ignis and an updated Maruti Ciaz.
