To launch in India sometime in 2016, reportedly.
Car and Bike reports that the new Hyundai Tucson will make its Indian debut at the Auto Expo 2016 next month, while a launch is speculated to take place sometime in 2016. This should fill the large gap between the Creta and Santa Fe.
This contradicts older reports stating that Hyundai India were considering a mid-size SUV to rival the likes of Mahindra XUV500 and Tata Safari Storme, and that it would be based on the Tucson’s platform.
Unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, the new Tucson in other markets gets twin-projector LED headlights and LED DRLs with the imposing hexagonal grille in the middle, big wheel arches with plastic cladding house 19-inch alloy wheels, while the sleek roof rails and door handles equipped with LED approach lamps complete the side profile. The rear-end has a tailgate-mounted spoiler, wraparound LED taillights and bevel-cut twin chrome exhaust tips.

The Tucson is likely to be introduced in its diesel variant, which packs Hyundai’s 2.0 CRDi four-cylinder turbo-diesel that produces 136 KW (182 hp) and 400 Nm of torque. It is available exclusively with Hyundai’s Active On-Demand AWD system and a six-speed automatic transmission.
