The Ford Focus RS was unveiled at the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show, just a month after it made its global debut at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
The exterior of the new Focus RS bears an aggressive and muscular look. The face gets a bold trapezoidal grille flanked by air intakes on either sides with the housing incorporating vertical fog lamps. The sides are endowed with rocker panels and 19-inch RS alloy wheels. At the back, there are two big round exhausts and an RS badge on the tail gate. Aerodynamic elements on the body include the deep front splitter and the four-fin diffuser at the rear along with a distinctive roof-mounted spoiler.
The interior of the Focus RS exudes sportiness with the partial-leather Recaro sport seats that are heavily bolstered to provide better support through the twisties. The steering wheel is a flat-bottomed unit covered in soft leather behind which sits the main instrument cluster. Above this cluster sits another bank of gauges which show boost pressure, oil pressure and oil temperature.
Connectivity is handled by Ford's SYNC 3 infotainment system that can be operated through an 8-inch touchscreen display. This system can be used to control audio, navigation and climate control, and it also supports voice command.
Powering the 2016 Ford Focus RS is a new 2.3-liter four cylinder EcoBoost engine that is capable of 350 hp and 475 Nm of peak torque. Power is sent to all four wheels through the Performance All-Wheel Drive with Dynamic Torque Vectoring via the 6-speed manual transmission. The result is a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) time of 4.7 seconds and a top whack of 165 mph (265 km/h).
