Will be the first-ever RS model to be sold all over the world.
The third generation Ford Focus RS has made its global public debut at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. Falling under the new lineup of Ford's Performance Series, which includes the new GT, the new Focus RS packs a high performance engine in a sporty hatchback body that can accommodate four passengers.
Based on the current Focus, the RS variant comes with a highly aggressive front end that has a deep front splitter and a large trapezoidal front grille. The side intakes feature ducts that cool the brakes, and help enhance the wide look of the car. At the back, the RS is equipped with a large diffuser and a distinctive roof spoiler, which help channel the air flow without creating unnecessary drag. The diffuser also houses the twin round performance exhaust outlets.
Inside, the Focus RS comes with heavily-bolstered partial-leather Recaro sports seats as standard, while an optional Signature RS Recaro shell seats and authentic motorsport microfibre fabric panels further improve the dynamic character of the car.
The driving experience is enhanced with a new flat-bottomed steering wheel, alloy foot pedals, and dynamic instrument graphics. Also equipped are an additional bank of gauges above the centre console that display turbocharger boost pressure, oil temperature and pressure.
The main USP of the Focus RS is its powertrain. The high performance hatchback is powered by a Mustang-sourced 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine that delivers in excess of 320 hp. It is paired to a 6-speed manual transmission that sends torque to a new all-wheel-drive system with Dynamic Torque Vectoring for improved handling, a first for the Focus range.
The car will be manufactured at Ford's plant in Saarlouis, Germany, starting later this year.
