Based on an all-new monocoque platform.
Indian Autos Blog reader 'rjrohra' has snapped these images of the Mahindra S101 (codename) during its commercial shoot, which appears to be taking place in Mumbai. Reported to be called the 'Mahindra XUV100', the market launch is expected to take place in the third week of January 2016.
Though the XUV100 will target products like the Maruti Wagon R, its styling is inspired by crossovers, which is evidently seen: Designers have given the small car black, plastic wheel arches and a black theme in the lower portion of its bumper. Alloy wheels, roof rails, a rear wiper and washer and a contrasting silver shade for the rear, Chevrolet Beat-inspired door handles are other design touches observed.
When launched, the XUV100 will introduce a 1.2-liter petrol engine for the brand, which is reported to be a three-cylinder unit. In addition, a three-cylinder diesel engine (which could be borrowed from the TUV300) will also be seen on the small car. A 5-speed manual and automated manual transmission could be offered on Mahindra's second front-wheel drive product.
