Expected to be offered in a hybrid variant as well.
IndianAutosBlog learns that the ninth generation Honda Accord will be showcased at the Auto Expo 2016 in Noida, and is also confirmed to arrive in showrooms in the same year.
Set to rival the Toyota Camry primarily, and the upcoming 2016 VW Passat and Skoda Superb on price, the new Accord will be available in the conventional petrol and hybrid variants. Speaking to IndianAutosBlog, Mr. Raman Kumar Sharma, Sr. Vice President and Director, General Affairs, Honda Cars India, confirmed that the market launch of the Accord will take place next year.
The Accord packs a 2.4-liter four-cylinder i-VTEC engine that produces 185 hp and is mated to a CVT box, while the Accord Hybrid has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine linked to a 124 kW electric motor, which produce a combined output of 196 hp that is sent through an E-CVT.
The 2016 Accord sold in the U.S features new headlight and taillight clusters with LED tech, re-styled aluminium hood, optional 19-inch alloy wheels and redesigned front and rear bumpers. Inside, it gets a 7-inch touchscreen Display Audio with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, rain-sensing wipers, heated rear seats and 60:40 split folding rear seats.
Along with the Accord, Honda Cars India will also showcase the Honda BR-V crossover for the first time. Unlike the model sold in Indonesia, the India-spec BR-V will be fitted with a 1.5-liter i-DTEC diesel engine from the Honda Jazz, though the petrol variant will also be introduced.
