Acura Precision Concept announed for 2016 NAIAS - IAB Report

Acura used the 2015 North American International Auto Show to showcase its engineering excellence with debut of the 2017 Acura NSX. Now at the 2016 North American International Auto Show next month, Honda Motor's premium brand will boast about its futuristic designing & styling capabilities with the Acura Precision Concept. The concept is the work of the Acura Design Studio in California.

The Acura Precision Concept appears to be a three-box sedan with a fastback profile. The teaser indicates that the concept has sharp headlamps and tail lamps, sleek greenhouse and an almost straight beltline.

The Acura Precision Concept is not intended for production. The company's statement indicates that it's only a design study. It's based on the brand's design philosophy of 'precision crafted performance' and its presence will be felt in the styling and proportion of the brand's future next-gen models.

Expressing his views about the Precision Concept, Dave Marek, Global Creative Director at Acura, said: "It is our intention to more strongly express performance through design and the Acura Precision Concept will serve as the inspiration for the styling and proportion of the next-generation of Acura vehicles, especially for our sedans."

Parts of the Acura Precision Concept could be seen on Acura's compact SUV that will reportedly be spawned from the Honda HR-V's platform, and carry the Acura CDX branding.

Some of the concept's features may be used for the alleged Acura CDX. It was reported in February that Honda had filed for 'Acura CDX' trademark at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. According to that report, the Acura CDX could a sub-compact crossover based on the Honda HR-V.
