Public premiere at the 2016 NAIAS.
Seen here are the first leaked images of the 2016 Mercedes E Class which is expected to have its premiere anytime now. The first showcase of the W213 E Class will be held at the Detroit Motor Show next month however.
The 2016 E Class opts for a fresh design inspired by the new S and C Class models. To differentiate it from its smaller and larger siblings, designers have given the new E Class twin-LED daytime running strips. However, the new E Class will get the MultiBeam LED headlights that are seen on other models.
The interiors of the 2016 E Class are no different: The design of the dashboard, and plenty of parts and buttons are shared with the C and S Class models. While the center tunnel with the fingertip-controlled trackpad is similar to the C Class, the twin-TFT screen cluster is identical to the larger S Class. Like in the S Class, wood, leather and metal may be the only materials used by Mercedes designers for the interior of the E Class.

The MRA-based E Class will run on four-, six- and eight-cylinder engines paired to Mercedes's 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission or the 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT gearbox in case of the AMG variant. Expect the 2016 E Class to launch in India towards the end of next year as a CBU offering. Assembly at Mercedes-Benz India's Pune facility may start in 2017.
