Could gain a new 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine.
The current Audi Audi A3 Sportback, the 5-door version of the third generation Audi A3 hatchback, was introduced at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. It will be given a facelift next year, with styling and features updated based on the fifth-gen 2016 Audi A4 that was unveiled at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
Speculative renderings from Julien Jodry of Auto Moto show how the exterior and interior of the facelifted 2016 Audi A3 Sportback may look like.
Noteworthy exterior changes on the 2016 Audi A3 Sportback will be a new singleframe grille, headlights and tail lights. For the interior, the major update will be the availability of the Audi virtual cockpit fully-digital instrument cluster that was first introduced in the third-gen Audi TT and most recently added in the fifth-gen Audi A4. The new 3-spoke steering wheel should also be carried over from the all-new A4, and MMI infotainment system should also be updated with new features.
The 2016 Audi A3 Sportback will be available with a variety of TFSI turbocharged petrol and TDI turbocharged diesel engines. The VW Golf TSI BlueMotion's 1.0-litre TSI three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which makes 115 PS (114 hp) and 200 Nm of torque could also be added to the range. Transmission choices should include 6-speed manual, 6-speed S tronic and 7-speed S tronic.
